The term "Health IT" appears mostly associated with Electronic Health Record (EHR)Systems. However, most EHR projects do not include provisions for (re)engineering the IT infrastructure for reliability, which should include the voice network and theHealth Information Exchange (HIE) connectivity.

The finality of that date reminds me a little of Y2K, except with Y2K you could make the changes in advance and test them. <br />There was always the possibility, though, that you'd missed a program somewhere, and the only time you'd find that out was 1st Jan 2000. In this case, we don't seem to have the option of making the transition in advance to check it all works - it's fingers crossed we thought of everything when that day comes. Is anyone else concerned?
